Seaside Valley ski resort is located to the east of Itoigawa city in the most southern region in Niigata Prefecture. The road from Joetsu to Itowigawa follows the coast line, offering a lovely ocean view on the drive down. Hidden away down winding country roads, this ski area is almost never crowed. Even in peek season due to its lack of public transportation and purely Japanese advertisement few foreign tourists venture here. The courses offer beautiful views of the mountains and the Japanese sea. You can get away from the tourist slope vibes of Myoko, and relax with locals. The resort has its own rental gear shop alongside a newer private rental shop, offering top of the line gear. With no black slopes, it is a good destination for families with young children and skiers just getting started.
